Pear chin. Dimpled chin. Strong chin. Butt chin.
All my life, folks have poked fun at me for my butt chin. That centered inverted dip that closes off the oval of my face. I didn’t know any other way to refer to it, so that terminology become part of how I described myself.
Recently, I met someone that said they thought my pear chin was cute and I was stunned. I had never heard of such an adorable moniker before. This person was from Turkey, and it made me begin to think more on the myriad of ways physical descriptors may differ around the world. What other features have terrible names in American English that may have lovely names in other cultures?
One more tiny addition to the pool of reasons I am excited to discover my life abroad.
