Visa Turmoil

PSA to all: double, triple, SEPTUPLE check the instructions.

My hubris is that I gave a cursory glance over the visa application and necessary requirements and thought I had everything under control. To move to Spain, the most important part of what I should have done was start the FBI background check and Apostille & translation services at least 2 months before submitting my visa. That stuff takes FOREVER to get processed. I have written to my state reps to reach out on my behalf and am still currently waiting.

Beginning three months before the start date of my classes was a foolish idea. I am currently wishing, hoping, praying that the forms head back soon, but it’s technically only been a month, despite the fact that it feels like an eternity to me.

What have I learned going forward? Over-preparation is the way to go! Will I actually learn from this and apply it in the future? Only time will tell.
