I have now been in Spain for almost two months. It doesn’t feel real to say that, but at the same time, I feel like I have been here forever. I do not know what I am doing yet, but I know that I am headed on the path I am meant to be on.
One thing that has been difficult are the administrative tasks. I do not have the NIE, a document number needed to do things like get a job. I thought it came with my US visa, as folks from other non-EU countries have shared that theirs did, but in true US fashion, why make the lives of its citizens easier? After all the drama of getting my visa in the first place, it seems ridiculous that I am still missing vital things. On top of that, the bureaucracy of Spain does not make getting the number easy for foreigners. Alas, I will persevere.
I am working to discover my grove still, and get on that “glow up” tip. This is a crucial year in my life, and I do not want to see it wasted because I was too busy goofing around rather than focusing on growth and improvement. I won’t hinder my progress, not anymore!
